MODERNISM
Modernism originated in the 1860s in France as a response to rapid industrialisation, and flourished across Europe and America for over a century until the 1970s. Modernist artists wanted to create art for a world in which machines and photography were the new disruptors in town. No longer did they seek to imitate the world, rather they looked to their materials and the process of making to create new ways of seeing. Eliminating representational elements, they portrayed the world in colour, line, and form.
Art for art’s sake… just roll with it.
“The position of the artist is humble. He is essentially a channel.”
Piet Mondrian (1872 - 1944)
Inspired by modernist colour and form, Edible Leather Ribbons turn fresh fruit into vibrant, flowing strips of edible art.
Suspended within the installation, each ribbon becomes both a visual composition and a tasting experience.
Guests are invited to cut a piece, transforming the artwork into a personal moment of flavour and interaction.
